Other Creative Tools

Google Maps is the best application that you could possibly have on your computer or mobile device. If you are bad with directions like me, then this app would be a lifesaver. It also helps conserve trees because people no longer need to print step by step directions to places they need to go.

Youtube is another cool app that allows you to post videos or explore videos from other people on almost every topic imaginable. I like to use YouTube for tutorial videos or to watch music videos from my favorite artist.

Instagram:

Instagram is a free application that is available for iphones, Android, and ipads. It is a basic way to take a picture and change the filter on it so that it fits your personal preference. It is a innovative way to allow friends and family to share pictures while still controlling who sees their pics and determining who can or can not follow them. The following are a few pictures that I have edited using the filters on insatgram.

This project was not as bad as I thought it would be mainly because I included a lot of apps I use myself. I chose to use apps I already know about because it is easier for me to write a review since I have used them already. Researching an app is a bit harder than exploring it yourself. A lot of other people's options are biased. Overall, this project was easy.

I chose to do a project about Instagram. I think that this app is most common and hot among students and celebrities at the moment. I personally use instagram myself as a way to communicate with my friends and family. I prefer using this app over twitter and Facebook because it is not so personal. You simply post pictures as you please and comment on other pictures. I like this app because you can control who you follow and who follows you. You also can controlthe privacy of profile by setting it where you determine who follows you by accepting their follow request or denying.

Other creative tools that I enjoy using is YouTube and Google Sites. I never knew cretaing your own website was so simple. Also I love using Youtube to search for tutorial videos on various topics from makeup to music videos.

Creative Apps

Creativity Applications for Mobile Devices:

The first application that involves creativity is called Draw Something. This app is cool and fun for a variety of age ranges. It is a fun way to interact with friends and family through your mobile device. The object of the game is to first, be able to guess the figure that your friend is drawing. You and tour friend will take turns drawing something while the other tries to figure out what you are drawing. Before you start the game you can choose which level you want to play on; easy, medium, or hard. These levels simply determine the depth of the words that you will have to draw. This app is kind of like a mixture between the game taboo and scrabble because you are limited to a set of scrambled words that have the answer to the drawing. Best of all, this app is free for Android and Apple phones!

Bord is an innovative app that looks like a chalkboard with realistic chalk and sponge erasers. This app is cool for children ages 3-7 years old. It allows them to write words or pictures and save the pictures. Parents can even write words and let the child fill in the blank or solve math problems.

Faces-iMake-HDLarge.png

Faces iMake  is a creative app that allows kids (or adults) to design portraits with random objects such as lemons, grape bunches, pencils, tape rolls, paintbrushes, cheese graters, dominoes, etc. Users can also upload photos using their phone's camera or use a photo from the device's image library. If you have an email account registered to your mobile device, kids can use it to send their creations to friends and relatives. This app is a great way for children to learn about different objects while combining them to make an object of their own.

100 Floors is one of the best applications. It challenges users to think outside of the box to solve the mystery of each floor. The goal of the game is to figure out how to open the elevator door. Each level is a different mystery that has clues on the floor that will lead you to the answer that will open the door.

Dimensions of Creativity

The four dimensions of creativity that Guilford uses to describe creativity are: Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration.

Fluency is the first step in creativty, it involves having multiple ideas to brain storm and choose from. Flexibility is the ability to look at a topic from a different viewpoint or perspective. Originality involves coming up with an idea or innovation for the first time. It involves unique, usual products, and unexpected ideas. Elaboration is the final step of creativity and it completes the creative idea. It often involves filling the gaps, adding the last bit of details, and making your idea solid.

I think that my strong point is Elboration, it is easy for me to add the finishing touches to a project. For instance, I can look at a outfit, room, essay, project, whatever, and I immediately know what is missing or what it needs to be perfect. However, I lack strength in originiality. I also think that I am strong with originality. I have a very creative mind, I am always thinking of ways to make things better. When I am faced with an challenge, I can quickly come up with a solution or answer to my problems. I know what looks good and what would work well in different situations!

Creativity

My creativity is a big part of who I am as a person. I really enjoy interior designing. I believe this is a trait that runs in my family because all of the women in my family absolutely LOVE decorating! My decorating style is modern, neat, and organized. I love patterns but I also feel like less is more. I think that fewer funky pieces, really brings out a room. Here a few pictures of my room, designed exclusively by me...

Pandora Commercial

We chose to do a commercial on Pandora. Pandora is a internet radio site that allows you to stream music from your favorite artist. Pandora caters to the individual's needs and likes by allowing their listeners to cutomize their radio stations based on songs that they personally like or dislike. Pandora is a innovative site that has changed the face of internet radio. Listeners are able to enjoy their favorite artists while also being introduced to new artists. Many new artists recieve recognition from Pandora because their music is fused with more popular artists. Most importantly Pandora is convenient and FREE!

Horizon Report

I think because we live in a society where technology is so affluent, it only makes sense that technology is incorporated into the classroom. Many schools already have computers available to their students for various scholastic demands. How many of these computers are Apple or up-to-date though? One of the points in the Horizon Report discussed a new emphasis on more challenged based and active learning. Just about every student has either a smartphone, laptop, ipod, or tablet. Apple computers make it very easy to link your personal device to share pictures, videos, etc. There is also many applications that can be downloaded on these new technologies that would really foster higher education. Apps such as Pininterest are helpful tools for teachers, and thousands of learning apps are available for students. Students are so intuned with these new techologies. Incorporating these new innovations into the classroom are a great way to engage students both inside and outside of the classroom.

My Learning Story

How I learned to define my eyebrows….

When I was in high school I was a member of our dance team formally known as the Southwest DeKalb “Dancing Divas”. We were a part of the Marching Panthers Band and performed at pep rallies, football games, and some basketball games. Each performance required us to wear make-up, like eye shadow, lashes, mascara, etc. Because I was captain and better at applying make-up, I would be responsible for making all of the girls look pretty and uniformed. Instead of doing my own eyebrows and lashes, I would go to a local make-up artist named Princess before each game. She was very good at defining my eyebrows and applying false lashes. However, Princess became very expensive and soon enough I was leaving Atlanta to attend college here at UGA. In order to save time and money, I invested in my own cosmetic supplies. I originally began learning how to define my eyebrows by watching video tutorials on YouTube. I would just sit at my computer for hours at a time and watch the different techniques that people used. I formulated my own technique my gathering info from the many videos that I watched. Make-up is something that is continuously changing; I find it easier to customize a method that works best for you.
The steps that I use are quite simple! First I use Anne’s eyebrow razors to shape and clean my original eyebrows. Then, I take a moisturizing cream and apply it to the area that I shaved. After the moisturizer sits for a while, I sharpen the desired eyebrow pencils I am using. I usually use two shades of eyebrow pencils and two shades of eyebrow powder, a darker and a lighter one. I take the darker pencil and outline the bottom portion of my eyebrows slightly extending the ends. I take the lighter pencil and draw a line over the top portion of the brow stopping where the arch peaks. After I completed these steps on both eyes, I take the darker powder and fill in between the lines, but only on the outer parts of my eyebrows. I use the lighter powder for the inside of my brows to give it a faded effect. When I finish filling them, I take an angle brush and apply concealer underneath my brows to give it a highlighted, more perfect look and simply blend it out. Some people choose to put concealer on top of their brows as well, I personally like that look myself but it is up to that person if they want that extra highlighted effect.
I found that doing my makeup myself saves a lot of money and also allows me ample time to practice on my friends and family. I find that the more I do people’s eyebrows, the better my skills are!

A Little About Me...

I am currently a third year student at the University of Georgia studying Child and Family Development. After undergraduate studies I plan to recieve a Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy. I ultimately plan on working with children, I am one of those people who simply love children. It is not that I do not like working with adults because in order to work with children you have to communicate with their parents. It is something about helping kids that makes me feel complete. I believe that I am among a unique group of individuals that have the patience and passion to work with someone else's child in a way that will prepare them for a successful future.
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I have two younger sisters, Carrington, age 4, and Kennedy age 5, and two older sisters, A'sia, age 23, and Senora, age 24. My older sister Senora has two wonderful little boys, their names are Amare, 1,  and Davion, 6. All of my sisters and I have very unique relationships. A'sia, Carrington and I, have the same mother while Senora, Kennedy, and I have the same father. I know it may sound complicated, but my father raised all of us so in my eyes we all have the same daddy. Growing up, I was always considered a daddy's girl. Where ever my dad went I was right there by his side. To this day I am still a daddy's girl and I do not think that will ever change.
In my spare time I enjoy playing in makeup, dining, hanging out with friends and shopping. I am a girly girl, so I enjoy wearing accessories, lipstick, dresses, and pumps. One of the things that I enjoy the most is enhancing my natural beauty. To enhance my natural beauty, I define my eyebrows, put on false lashes, and occasionally wear lipstick. My favorite cosmetic line is MAC. Their cosmetic line is famous worldwide, it is best known for its highly pigmented shadows and powders. Like I mentioned earlier, I am a college student at UGA. A big part of college is socialization. I try to balance my learning experience with having fun and meeting new people. I am sure you are familiar with the saying, "Work Hard, Play Harder"!

Ideal Learning Environment (Little Children)

My design is based on an ideal early childhood learning environment. I chose this design because I love working with children and I am a firm believer that children are a product of their environment. In order for a child to be successful at learning they must have the appropriate tools available for them. As you enter my classroom, there is a huge colorful rug, or formally the foiler. To the left of the entrance is a storage room with cubbies, lockers, and coat hangers for each child's personal belongings. Immediate;y right of the entrance is the teacher's office. The design for the teacher's office is modern and colorful. I wanted the office to feel inviting, so I chose an abstract rug with purple wall paint. The wall adjacent to my office and the classroom is a glass wall, this allows the teacher and parents to meet while also keeping an eye on what is happening in the classroom. The classroom is occupied by two large rugs, the first rug is for dancing and exercise and the second rug is surrounded by sofas and a flat screen TV for story time and movie time. There is also a learning corner, with desks and a white board. The other section is a collection of "pretend play" toys. These toys allow the children to expand their symbolic play thus furthering cognitive capabilities. The last area is a indoor play ground. It has a fish pond, with a fish for each child, swings, sandbox, a toy train, etc.. This area is for free playing time. All children must have a time for recess, I wanted to make sure my design allowed recess regardless of weather conditions. As you can see my design is neat, modern, colorful, and very appealing to the young person's eye!

Learning opinion

Meaningful Learning...
University of Georgia
To me learning is a hands on process that can not be solely measured by tests. In order to learn you have to observe and act. Observation plays a key role in the learning process. People learn by watching what others do and imitating those acts. However, observation does not only pertain to watching another person. You can learn a lot about a particular object by simply observing the things that it does. For instance, a baby learns by watching the things that its parents say and do. But a baby also learns by manipulating its enviornment. When a baby is introduced to a new toy ball, their first impression is that there is this wierd object in their presence. As the baby touches the ball and watch the things that the ball does, they learn that this wierd object actually is a lot of fun. They learn that it can roll, jump, and bounce.
Like the text mentioned, learning should not be based on passing a test. Learning takes a lot of observation, manipulation, and initiation.
